Assessment of the degree of ossification of the medial clavicular epiphyseal cartilage is of vital importance in forensic age diagnostics of living individuals aged more than 18 years. Material and Methods: Concerning the epiphyseal ossification of the clavicle, CT’s of 68 patients between 12 and 33 years were analysed. All of the examined medial clavicular epiphyseal cartilages permitted an assessment of the degree of ossification. Results: In the legal relevant age segment we saw a turnover from stage 3 to stage 4 at the age of 21 years. Conclusion: According to these results it can be concluded that a person with stage 4 is probably 21 years or older, while a stage 3 leads to an estimated age under 21 years. The achieved results should be examined with a larger number of cases. Keywords: Tomography scanners, X-Ray computed, clavicle, ossification, heterotopic; forensic anthropologyTurkiye Klinikleri J Foren Med 2008, 5:1-5
