In this study, it is aimed to research the contribution of post-mortem macroscopic eyes findings to determine post-mortem interval.
Material and Methods: Two hundred cases which had died at the Eskişehir Osmangazi University Hospital and known the time of death, it is aimed corneal opacity, and pupil reaction were evaluated with regard to post-mortem interval.
Results: It is found that there is a significant correlation between the corneal opacity and PMI (p<0.001), and no significant correlation between pupil reaction and PMI (P>0.05).
Conclusion: In post-mortem examination, it has been thought that the macroscopic evaluation of the corneal opacity which is fairly easy and economic may contribute to be shortening the PMI with the crime scene investigation and the other autopsy findings. Keywords: Death, time, eyeTurkiye Klinikleri J Foren Med 2007, 4:102-105
